It's a challenge for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the team that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and once went nearly four years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the record chasers, are the only things left for a squad that has accomplished all there is.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the bowlers that have sported the yellow jersey over five decades.

It's difficult for their hitters to possess a record if not afforded the possibility.

In the end, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy being given a platform to produce her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the teenage relative of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup arrived three months after her debut and seven global championships have come from 10 tries across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final setback by India temporarily stopped the successful run.

That loss "motivated us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was declared player of the series. She made sure her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was far harder to anticipate.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this innings was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in training, it's been a frustrating experience because it seemed my form was missing completely," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts take over and you simply focus on the competition."

Healy's competitiveness has consistently been her key asset - and an irreplaceable characteristic in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the young fast bowler in every game, but here that only provided Healy's motivation.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and after that the right-hander was underway.

"An opportunity to go out there and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun in that aspect, somewhat inspired me," said Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 pitches - her fastest at the World Cup - and her hundred in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

Once she was removed Australia required another 66 at run per delivery - an achievable target now demanding an easy conclusion.

"Pursuing 330 is uncharted waters so I am glad we have the confidence to do that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, if necessary, we know we can do it."

These statements will be the ultimate thing competing nations at this World Cup should hear.

During the last week a sense they will triumph from any situation has only strengthened - this success coming after victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

During that phase they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the first time at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she wanted to have participated through the pain.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those injuries have postponed consideration of ending her career, this championship is anticipated as her last as captain in one-day cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a world championship as leader.

Victory in India would lead her to the peak of her ultimate challenge.
